In my public relations publications class we are currently learning about paper and ink. It may sound simple but these two things are actually complex. For instance, I had no idea that there was a characteristic called grain that paper has. Grain is an important aspect when it comes to folding. If you go against the grain you won’t be able to fold paper easily. For example, folding a box is typically easy if you follow the instruction on how to do it. However, if you didn’t follow the instruction you would have a much more difficult time folding that box. I would like to know more about ink because I don’t know much about it. Knowing about the characteristics of paper and ink is important for public relations professionals because you need to know what kind of paper to use when making a brochure, newsletter, flyer, etc. The more you know the more you stand out.
