Understanding Stakeholders

This week in my Public Relations Publications class we were asked to understand stakeholders. In public relations, stakeholders are of extreme importance. Before this lecture, I was unaware of what the linkages model was. The linkages model identifies all stakeholders without segmenting them. There are four linkages: enabling, functional, diffused and normative. I would like to know more about the four categories of stakeholders: active, aware, aroused and inactive. I want to know who would go into each categories. Understanding stakeholders is important in order to be a successful public relations professional. As public relations professionals we are supposed to act in the favor of our organization. Knowing this skill set will help my career in public relations because it will give me a better understanding of who my organization serves.
